Assistant instructor at Long Beach City College in the Architectural Drafting Dept. for the Winter semester of 2006.

The model was reduced in scale to 1/16 th and separated into about 6 sets of parts. After a few obstacles the model was completed in June of 2006.
Below shows some of the stages during production.

A Dimension rapid prototyper was used for this model.

Shown here is the bottom front half of the body, the first dashboard (cylinder) and supports, two halves of one wheel, 2 hubcaps, taillites, side air vents and the headlight reflector assembly. (read on)

Also you see the top half of the front body, hubcaps, wheel housing and 2 seat supports. The locket was created by one of the students for their class final project.
The white material is ABS plastic. The support material is corn starch biodegradable and can be easily dissolved away in a hot soap bath process. Both materials come in a thick string form on a spool within a cartridge about the size of a phone book. The line feeds through to a dispensing head where it is heated and dispursed like a hot glue gun. The machine works much the same as a regular printer passing a material head back and forth across an 8" x 8" pallet in minute layers. After each pass the pallet drops down a fraction and then the next pass begins.

Here are all parts laid out before assembly. If you continue further down you will see the license plate with the signature and year.
