This piece was created by request for the exhibit "Prejudice And God's Grace", 10/12/03-10/13/03 St. Thomas The Apostle Church, Hollywood, California. This show was in honor of Matthew Shephard in hopes of ending violence and predjudice against gay, lesbian, and transgendered people. When intially approached about contributing a piece for this show A.J. declined, siting schedule conflicts. By the end of the same day he had already created the entire piece in his head. "The rest only involed finding the parts."

In a radio interview on September of 2003 protestors marched around the first gay high school in New York City. An eight year old carried a flashing neon sign that read "GOD HATES FAGS". When the eight year old was asked how he knew this he said "Because it's in the bible." An older gentleman was asked as well if gays were going to Hell. He said "They are anything but gay! They are miserable, diseased people. They're Fags!" He continued, " Faggot is a time and scripture honored word. A faggot is a little peice of wood used for fire and homosexuals are the wood that fuels the fire of God's hatred".
I believe that God is a God of love and not hate. Hence the title, "There Are No Fags".
